A Message From Dr. Evans: I was born in Pawnee, Oklahoma, and knew right away what I wanted to be when I grew up. When I was little, my mother decided that she wanted to go to college to become a veterinarian…and so did I! I took every opportunity to learn as much as I could. While my mother attended Oklahoma State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine, I tagged along, where they let me milk cows, fetch hay, and watch as they treated patients. The local mixed animal vet that she worked for on Saturdays also was kind enough to let me “help” out.
My family moved to Northern Virginia when I was fifteen, and I started working as an assistant right away. I worked full time as a technician in an emergency small animal clinic while attending college at George Mason University with a major in biology. When I was ready to apply to veterinary school, there was no question where I wanted to go…Oklahoma State University! So I moved back home to Pawnee.
I joined Veterinary Associates in July, 2014 and have loved every minute here!I enjoy all aspects of veterinary medicine although I do particularly like emergency medicine, internal medicine, surgery, and ultrasound. I also enjoy seeing the occasional exotic patient. Driving from Pawnee every day is no big deal when you have the pleasure of working with other incredible vets and our warm, caring staff!
When not at work, I spend my time fixing up my great grandparent’s farm with Will, my amazing husband. He has also learned to love our rural life and all of our pets, which include 4 horses, 10 guinea fowl, 10 chickens, 2 cats (Death Ray and Greebo), 3 dogs (Virgil, Tesla, and Julio Iglesias), and Velociraptor the macaw.
