Feline Vaccinations

Information and Overview:  Vaccinations are a very important step to be taken in a young kittens life. As a kitten, the mothers milk provides vital antibodies to help stave off infection of environmental pathogens. The antibodies received in the milk are temporary, and as the kitten becomes older they are no longer protected by diseases.

Why So Many Boosters?:   There is no guarantee of what age kittens begin to lose the antibodies given to them by mom. The age window is between 6-14 weeks when they begin to decline. In this time period little kittens are very succeptible to many diseases. A series of 3-4 boosters must be given to give kittens the best shot at surviving this time period of declining maternal antibodies.
